About

Two people working together with paper and tools at a shared table

We publish grounded stories for people who like useful details and unhurried days.

Common Hours is an independent-style editorial journal about short journeys, everyday cooking, books, time outside and the small arrangements that make a day easier to enjoy.

We are interested in useful details: how to shape a day trip without overplanning it, what makes a simple supper feel complete, why a reading corner works, or how carrying a camera can change the pace of a familiar walk.

How we edit

Each story begins with a concrete subject and stays close to what a reader can actually notice or use. We favor specific observations, calm pacing and photographs that belong to the subject rather than decorative filler.

The aim is straightforward: make ordinary places and routines a little clearer, more practical and more worth returning to.

01

Useful before impressive

A specific observation should earn its place on the page.

02

Pictures that belong

Photography should show the place, object or process the story is actually about.

03

Worth reopening

We edit for stories that still make sense when you return to them later.
